Skype is the world leader in Internet telephony, allowing millions of users to talk worldwide for free via their PC.
Forworx was asked to help Skype find new office space for their headquarters, and take on the project management of the 2,000 m² involved.
Based on the "design intent" for Skype's office by London firm of architects Martin Walker, Forworx's job was to translate the architects' intent into a concrete building, while dealing with challenging technical constraints.
The project was to turn the empty shell of the C5 Rives de Clausen building, originally designed to house a supermarket, into two office floors that are now Skype's headquarters.
Deadlines and budgets were major challenges, as was the size of the project, given the bold design submitted by Walker & Martin.
